Beyond the beaches, museums, and memorials lie many culinary delights. For mid-range Hawaiian food that most tourists will never see, Ono Hawaiian Foods is an excellent choice. They offer many Hawaiian dishes at very reasonable prices. If you are looking to splurge on an extravagant meal, Elua and Alan Wong's Restaurant are very popular with both tourists and locals alike. Be prepared with reservations for both restaurants, as they tend to be busy year-round and booked solid. For drinks the Mai Tai Bar is very popular, voted top bar in Honolulu multiple times. The best times to go are Wednesdays and weekends, when they have live local music playing. Lodging runs the gamut from budget to extravagant with everything in between. There are many great places to stay on the island. You can find simple beach bungalows to luxurious resorts. The Kahala Hotel & Resort offers 5-star digs and all the pampering you would expect want, while the Best Western Plaza Hotel offers kid-friendly accommodations with an outdoor pool, conference center, and complimentary breakfast buffet.
