Patman Lake has an area of 20700 acres and depth of 7.6 foot. All lake related facilities are available. Its clear waters give invitation to swimmers, scuba and skin divers.
At Possum Kingdom State Park, you can study nature and enjoy a picnic in historical campsites that are available in abundance. In San Angelo State Park, archeologists have found many things related to old settlers here. Many of these things are related to travelers who while going to California left them during their journey.
It also offers many other facilities like bird and wildlife watching, even hunting. All you need is a permit and can hunt deer and spring turkey. McKinney State Park is dedicated to Thomas F. McKinney who settled here in early 1820 and constructed his home, stable to breed horses, fences and a mill with slave labor. Ruins of these entire still exist. All other common amenities are available.
Originally, Abilene State Park got constructed in 1930 and was used as a campground for different animals under native pecan trees. Special rates are available for seasonal camping. Many cattle drovers went past Big Spring State Park as seen from carvings they made on these rocks. These days this area has lots of businesses in agriculture, refining petroleum products and tourism.
A 3 mile drive that surrounds the mountain following a ledge of limestone rimrock that's capping the bluff. Many walls were retained by putting large blocks of limestone in masonry techniques. Only natural lake in Texas is located at Caddo Lake State Park. A Dam was constructed on it in 1914, which was replaced by a new one in 1971. All facilities, both primitive and modern are available. A special concession is also possible in park that opens from March till November, daily except Wednesdays.
